HOMEPAGE EASY EDIT

When you want to edit or view an HTML file on your HomePage, it usually takes a while to scroll down through all the files, or several keystrokes plus scrolling when the target file is in a sub-directory. Here's a little aid you can set up to save time and find the target file more conveniently. With this aid, you can do all of your directory work from the first file in the directory. NO MORE ENDLESS SCROLLING!! As you add new files or sub-directories, put them on your "1-anything.html" page.

These instructions are for TRIPOD, but should work for any server. For Tripod, once you have logged in, you can go directly to any directory or file from your EASY EDIT page, from anywhere on the internet. You do not have to go through Tripod's houskeeper.

Create a new page. Name it "1-anything.html", for TRIPOD, so it will be the first file in your directory. Use a name for your server that will make it the first file in your directory.

Set up the new page with the appropriate tags and title. Make headers for: SUB-DIRECTORIES, EDIT INDEX, and VIEW INDEX. Exit and save the page.

SUB-DIRECTORIES

1. Go to your first sub-directory.

2. Bring up the "OPTIONS" menu. Click on "go to", and then "Show Last". Copy the page's URL.

3. Use the "back" key to return to your directory.

4. Scroll to the new page (i.e. 1-anything.html).

5. Click on "EDIT", to edit the file.

6. Under the header SUB-DIRECTORIES, make a hyper-link by pasting in the copied URL. Use the sub-directory name as the "link". Put a note following the link to further identify the sub-directory.
